Why not having a mobile strategy can damage your brand

2nd of October 2009

Users are interacting with your website even though you havn’t even thought about a mobile strategy yet.

Whether your company is just considering entering into the mobile world, havn’t begun to think about it, or are waiting to see what happens, the data doesnt lie, Mobile web usage is rising and so too is mobile search.

Last year mobile serach rose over 20% by the end of 2008 and this years statistics are looking even more promising. The reason this should have you concerned if you are a business is that when a user clicks on the search results in Google, Yahoo, or Bing while on their mobile, they will be directed to the PC version of your website which is too slow to load because its too big, and is not formatted to be easily viewable on a mobile phone. Hardly the type of interaction you want to engage with potential clients on the most personal device they own. By not having a mobile website you are missing out on a rapidly expanding media channel where mobile search will overtake PC Search in just a few years according to Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt.
