Changing Media Landscape in Context

4th of October 2009

This video is from the popular “did you know” series created by XPLANE who are a specialist information design company. This video is a must watch which really puts the mobile web in context with all other digital technologies which are shifting the media landscape away from traditional media sources such as newspapers, magazines, radio and tv.

Some important points to take away from the video are:

1. Right now, 93% of U.S. adults own a cell phone, But 1/3 don’t feel safe using it for purchases

2. The Mobile Device will be the world’s primary connection tool to the internet in 2020.

3. The computer in your cell phone today is a million times cheaper and a thousand times more powerful and about a hundred thousand times smaller [than the one computer at MIT in 1965]

4. So what used to fit in a building now fits in your pocket, what fits in your pocket now will fit inside a blood cell in 25 years - Ray Kurzwell
